Utah Park Aquatics Center and Park Pavillions

The Utah Park Aquatics Center was initially constructed in the 1970’s as a single outdoor swimming pool. In 1978, the pool was enclosed with a fabric air-supported bubble structure. By 1998, the bubble was deteriorating and causing a variety of problems for the building. The 56,000 SF expansion included three phases. Phase I included remodeling the existing 31,000 SF pool including the replacement of the deteriorating structural system and roof, building code and ADA upgrades, replacement of the mechanical equipment, and the remodeling/upgrading of the locker rooms. Phase II and Phase III were master planned with the renovation design to ensure proper sizing of mechanical and electrical equipment to handle the future building additions. Phase II will include a 6,000 SF therapy and rehabilitation addition to be shared with a local hospital. Phase III will include a 20,000 SF gymnasium, cardiovascular machine room, and free weight/circuit training area.
